Semi Truck Crash at Dangerous Intersection in El Paso Leaves 2 Seriously Injured
According to KVIA, a collision between a semi truck and a passenger vehicle in Northeast El Paso left two people with serious injuries. The accident happened shortly after 3:30 p.m. on Gateway North near Sun Valley and US-54.
Eyewitnesses claim the collision was devastating and that the force of the impact pushed the passenger vehicle roughly 50 yards from the intersection where it occurred. They also claim this is the fourth accident to happen within the past two weeks at that particular intersection.
In this instance, the front of a semi truck collided with the passenger side of a smaller vehicle, and responders had to transport two people to the hospital for treatment. Gateway North was closed for hours so police could clear the debris, and they are still investigating the cause of the crash.
Collisions between semi trucks and passenger vehicles are often devastating for the occupants of the cars because 18-wheelers are so much heavier. The same force of impact that merely dents a large truck can crush a small car.

Who Might Be Liable If Poor Road Conditions Caused a Collision?
In the incident mentioned above, eyewitnesses claim the intersection where the accident occurred is a dangerous one. When multiple crashes happen in the same area, it is often a coincidence. In some cases, though, other factors may be at play.
For example, if potholes, erosion, missing guardrails, or poor traffic design contribute to the collisions, the government agency responsible for maintaining the roads may be liable. This might be a city, county, or state agency, depending on the particular factors that caused the accidents and on the responsibilities of each agency that governs the area.
Unfortunately, personal injury claims that involve government entities can be especially complicated. If you were in a collision that was the result of poor road maintenance and you want to name a government agency in your suit, it is wise to seek legal counsel as soon as possible. Not only can you expect more hurdles throughout the claims process, but you will also have less time to overcome them.
When it comes to government agencies, the standard statute of limitations of two years does not apply. Instead, you must notify the government within 30 to 180 days of the incident.
