Thirteen people were injured in a three-vehicle accident on Interstate 35E that involved a semi-truck and two passenger buses, reports the Tyler Morning Telegraph. According to authorities, traffic had slowed due to construction work when a Megabus – carrying 37 passengers – slammed into the back of a semi-truck before striking an Americanos bus.
Due to the size and weight of commercial trucks, a crash with an 18 wheeler is likely to end with injuries or fatalities. As you might expect, the occupants of passenger vehicles tend to suffer the worst of the impact.
Semi-trucks have high centers of gravity, so they are more prone to rollovers than passenger vehicles. These accidents contributed to a significant portion of the 3,800 truck crash deaths in 2012.
